PACE – Partnerships for Action in Education, the Hindustan Times Newspaper in Education Programme was launched in Delhi on 6th July 1998. As a concept, Newspaper in Education was pioneered by the New York times in the 1930’s, based on substantial evidence that newspaper reading enhances reading, writing and spelling abilities as well as increase current event knowledge.

A trusted partner of schools, HT-PACE continuously endeavors to add value to education and a new dimension to classroom teaching. PACE today, is a front runner of all NIE (Newspaper in Education) initiatives of the country that has made the newspaper an integral part of a child’s curriculum, whilst bringing around significant value addition in and around the editorial product.

The programme presently reaches out to over four lakh students across fifteen hundred schools in Delhi & NCR and not just has its own exclusive issues for Students, Schools but also provides curriculum support, conducts exclusive interactive sessions, seminars for students/principals/teachers coupled with a host of events and inter-school competitions.

In a short span PACE has received recognition both at National and International levels, and is today a globally recognized Newspaper in Education Programme appreciated by:

HT Student Edition– a first of its kind eight page student edition with greater focus on science and technology, environment, nature, fitness and sports. A harmonious blend of youthful design and relevant issues of interest, HT-Student Edition is all about opening the student’s mind to broader vistas of thought and learning-educating, entertaining and thought provoking.

HT School Times– A weekly four page colour supplement – combines learning with fun and tests student’s general knowledge. HT School Times carries school news, puzzles, crosswords as well as student entries in the form of paintings and poems. Encouraging children to explore their creative potential. The supplement, continuously strives to balance education with fun. 

Special interactive workshops for students, principals and teachers.

Curriculum Support Packages for teachers that links the newspaper to the grade-wise curriculum of schools making teaching more fun and learning more exciting.

Events: PACE events have emerged as the most laudable in the school circuit and are marked by tremendous value that participants derive from them. Each year PACE hosts a plethora of events, inter-school competitions and fun-filled contests as well as exclusive sessions for Principals and Teachers.

The most recent event has been,”Annual PACE Principals Meet” that took place in July, 2015; where over 700 Principals from various schools of Delhi and NCR participated.  This event, held exclusively for principals, has in the past, included interesting and meaningful performances such as Tiranga, Bharatnatyam on wheels, entertaining theatre productions and several motivational performances.

This year PACE presented “Beyond Boundaries” a concert transcending the barriers of race, nationality and religion, spreading the message of peace and harmony, tolerance and integrity through music presented by none other than Padma Shri Usha Uthup.
