Chief Executive Officer
Rajiv Verma joined HT Media Ltd. as CEO in 2004. Under his leadership HT has taken giant strides in various businesses – be it growing the vernacular segment with Hindustan or creating big national brands – Mint, Fever 104, Shine.com. Rajiv has been responsible for the focus on new business, like Events and Key Marketing Solutions, Ad for Equity, and Education, as well as major international collaborations with partners like Virgin Radio, Burda, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.
Rajiv brings with him over 30 years of cross-sectoral experience with companies like Hindustan Lever, Nestle and Whirlpool. His international experience spans South East Asia and Europe.
Rajiv is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering.

Executive Director – Operations & HR
Sharad joined HT Media in 2005. He has over 25 years of rich, diverse and successful leadership experience spanning Research & Development, Operations, Supply Chain and Human Resources spread over different industry verticles – Railways, Automobiles, Food & Beverages and Media. He has held key leadership roles in Escorts, Eicher, Pepsico and Perfetti prior to joining HTML. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra.
Chief Financial Officer
Piyush joined HT Media in September 2008. He has vast experience in the domain of Business Planning, Corporate Treasury and Corporate Tax. His experience spans companies like Gillette, Pepsico, Whirlpool and Wrigley in various leadership roles and domains. In his last role, before joining HT Media, Piyush was the Chief Finance Officer with Wrigley, India. Piyush is a Chartered Accountant as well as a Cost Accountant.
Benoy joined HT Media in 2004. He has over two decades of experience with leading organisations like Whirlpool, Procter & Gamble and Godrej. Benoy's earlier roles include Vice President (Sales, Trade Marketing and Logistics) in India and Regional Director (Market Development-Asia) in Hong Kong for Whirlpool. He has also worked with Procter & Gamble as Divisional Manager and Godrej Soaps where he was General Manager Sales. Benoy holds an honors degree in Economics from Presidency College Calcutta and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
Business Head – New Media Initiatives & Live Entertainment
Anand joined HT Media Ltd. as Marketing Head in 2003. In his four years in Marketing, Anand was involved in three relaunches of Hindustan Times Delhi, the launch of Hindustan Times in Mumbai, the launch of HT Next and the relaunch of Hindustan. He is now the Business Head for New Initiatives at HT Media. Over the past few months, Anand’s team has successfully held some key initiatives including the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit and the Mint Luxury Conference.
Anand has previously worked with Lintas India (now Lowe), Godfrey Phillips India and Electrolux India. He is an M.A in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and an MBA from IIM-Calcutta.
Business Head HT-Delhi
Ashu Phakey has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing across FMCG, Retail and Media. He started his career with WIMCO and then went on to work with Frito Lay , Nestle JV, Conagra Foods and Subhiksha Trading Services, where he was President Operations.
Before joining HT, Ashu Phakey was associated with the Dainik Bhaskar group as COO North - where he was responsible for P&L management of Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana operations. He was responsible for establishing and extending the Dainik Bhaskar brand across the region.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce honours and a Masters degree in business administration from Punjab University.
CEO - Fever
Harshad Jain joined HT Media Limited as the Business Head of Fever in September 2011 and handles the radio and entertainment business – Fever 104 FM & Fever Entertainment.
He has played a critical role in transforming Fever into a profitable and formidable business, with leadership in key markets and segments.
Harshad brings with him over 20 years of cross-sectoral experience in the FMCG and media & entertainment spaces. On completion of his business studies in Sales and Marketing he joined PepsiCo and was with them for 14 years in roles across sales, marketing and business at regional and corporate level.
Immediately prior to joining Fever, Harshad was with Bharti Airtel Ltd as Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing handling the DTH Business.
Dr. Jai Menon
Group Director, Technology
Jai is a global technology leader with over 25 years of experience, currently spearheading technology across all HT Mediaâ€™s businesses to help the strategic transformation of the group into digital ready formations.
A top ranked distinguished alumnus of IIT-Delhi, he started his career at IBM's Watson Labs (US) and rose to a Director in IBM's Software Group, leading worldwide research-to-market business for rich media. He then served as Corporate Officer and EVP at AT&T (BellSouth, US) managing growth businesses. He subsequently held leadership positions across Asia and Africa as Group Director (CIO) of Bharti Enterprises, Director (Global Innovation) of Bharti Airtel, Joint President (Enterprise Business), Director (Customer Service) and CTIO (Africa).
He has received several global recognitions, including Global CIO 50 (US), Forbes (US), GSMA (Spain), Tech Forum (US), Telecom Asia (Hong Kong), IDC (Singapore) and Asia-Pacific CIO (US). He has authored over sixty international research publications, filed over thirty US patents and served on global boards. Jai is a Cornell PhD/MS and has completed management programs from Harvard, Wharton and Sloan.
Business Head – Mint
Mahesh is a PGDM from IIM Bangalore. He brings with him over 26 years of rich experience in several Indian and Multinational companies; his last role was CEO and MD – Geosansar Advisors, a Hyderabad based startup working in the area of financial inclusion in Urban India. Prior to this Mahesh was the senior Vice President at Samsung India where he headed the INR 6000 crore home appliance and air conditioner business. Prior to Samsung, Mahesh was Vice President and SO Leader with Philips Electronics India Ltd.
Earlier companies where Mahesh has held senior Sales, Marketing and Profit Centre Head positions include Goodyear, General Mills and ITC Agro.
Chief Human Resources Officer
Nalin has over 23 years of work experience in HR in a wide range of industries including Financial Services, Media, FMCG, and Pharmaceutical and over the last 15 years has held several leadership positions in Kotak Mahindra, Sony TV, Diageo, Coca Cola and Wockhardt. His last role was at Cipla, where he was the Group HR Head. He has worked across India, Middle East and US.
Nalin has a Masters degree in Political Sciences from Mumbai University and Masters in Personnel Management from TISS, Mumbai.
Neel Kant Saxena
Supply Chain -Director
Neel has 30 years experience in engineering, manufacturing and end-to-end Supply Chains in various FMCG andProcess Industries across geographies in the Asia Pacific region â€“ besides operations, developing & implementing strategies around regional manufacturing and facility management outsourcing. His last role was Director â€“ Integrated Supply Chain at Cadbury (Mondelez – erstwhile Kraft Food). Neel spent over 15 years with Cadbury in multiple roles in Asia and was based in Bangkok, Thailand before relocating to India in 2011. He has worked earlier with Britannia and ICI and is a qualified Electrical Engineer with Executive MBA (Kelloggs).
Vice President – Consumer Insights
Pankaj joined the company in Dec 2007 after over 15 years of experience in Marketing, Sales and Research with two of India’s leading companies – Hindustan Unilever Ltd and HDFC Life insurance. He joined HT Media’s Mumbai operations as Business Head and after a successful stint there, moved to his current role as Vice President – Consumer Insights in 2009. He manages research activities across all businesses and brands of the HT Media Group. He is an Electrical Engineer from IIT Delhi and a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad.
Chief Marketing Officer
Rajan joined HT Media in 2006. He led the launch of Mint as its Business Head, which now is India’s second largest business daily. Rajan quit the company for a year in 2008 and rejoined the group as Head Marketing – Strategic Businesses leading Marketing for Hindustan, Fever, Mint, Shine and Education businesses. In his over 20 years of experience Rajan has worked with several blue chip companies across diverse categories in senior leadership roles. These include Contract Advertising, Whirlpool, and Pepsico Beverages India where he served as Executive Vice President – Marketing. While the bulk of his experience has been in the Indian market, he has worked on an International assignment in Brazil as well
Rajan is a commerce graduate from Delhi University and has also done his MBA along with ICWA (I).
Rajeev has over 24 years of rich working experience, across various industries and geographies. Rajeev has returned to HT Media after spending a little over three years with Star India Pvt. Ltd where he was President, Ad Sales across the Sports and Entertainment businesses. He also managed the Digital Revenues for Hotstar for Sports properties. Additionally, Rajeev spearheaded the creation of the revenue model for new domestic leagues such as Indian Super League and Pro Kabaddi League, and the IPL Digital revenue model, and led the Sales Organisation restructuring across the sports and entertainment organisations, as well as the sales automation initiative. Before joining Star, Rajeev was National Head of Revenue and Circulation at HT Media. He has also worked in FMCG companies, including AVON, Whirlpool, Coca Cola and Asian paints where he led diverse portfolios in Sales, Operations, Strategy, Commercial and Trade Marketing. Rajeev holds a MBA in Marketing from Punjab University.
Chief Digital Officer and CEO – HT Digital Streams Ltd
Rajiv is a young, digital-age, leader who has built his entire career in the digital space in the US, both in B2B and B2C businesses. He brings 17 years of rich experience in general management, product development, product management, business strategy and start-ups. Rajiv has previously worked for Microsoft, BCG, Logitech, and Samsung and also played a leadership role in successful start-ups like Coosty and Bidgely. Prior to joining HT, Rajiv was the VP Product and GM for Peel, an international, widely-used, content consumption and control application.
An engineer in Computer Sciences, Rajiv has done his MS from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.
Business Head - HT learning Centers
Saurabh is a graduate in Chemical Engineering from IIT Varanasi, with a degree in management from IIM Lucknow.
He started his career with Asian Paints, where, in about 12 years of his stay, he gained multi-functional experience in Finance, Sales and Manufacturing. He spent 6 years at PepsiCo holding various responsibilities – P&L Head of UP operations, Regional Director, and finally a Sales Development role in Bangkok. He also has over four years experience in the telecom sector and his last job was at VLCC as the CEO – Health & Wellness, where he managed about 165 centers across Indian subcontinent with a sales turnover of approximately Rs 300 cr & 3000 employees.
Editor-in-Chief , Hindustan
Shashi Shekhar joined HT Media in September 2009. He began his career in journalism with Hindi daily Aaj and was instrumental in its expansion across UP, Bihar and MP. After Aaj, he worked as an Executive Producer with the leading news channel Aaj Tak and played a key role in shaping its news content and weekend programs. He is a prolific writer and also hosts TV programs on contemporary issues.
Shashi is a Post Graduate in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology from Banaras Hindu University and also has a post graduate Diploma in Journalism.
Editor-in-Chief, Hindustan Times
R Sukumar, part of the founding team of Mint joined HT Media in October 2006 from The India Today Group where he was then Managing Editor of Business Today. He started his career at The Hindu Business Line where he became the Marketing Editor. He then spent a little over nine years at Business Today, where he was an Associate Editor and later the Managing Editor, with both strategic and operational leadership of India’s leading business magazine. Sukumar has a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Mathematics and Business Administration.
Executive Director, Spearheading Revenue
Venkat has over 26 years of diverse work experience, including senior business leadership roles in the FMCG industry and Investment Banking. Prior to joining HT Media, he was Investment Director, Peepul Capital Advisors, a mid-market Private Equity Fund. In this capacity, Venkat drove the transition from a Proprietary to an Institutional Fund and was instrumental in acquiring talent, creating and upgrading internal investment and reporting processes, and improving capabilities to create external force multipliers. Venkat has also worked with PepsiCo India Holdings in various Sales and General Management roles for almost 14 years. Venkat is a graduate of IIT Kanpur and holds a PG Diploma from IIM Ahmedabad.
