Executive Director – Operations & HR
Sharad joined HT Media in 2005. He has over 25 years of rich, diverse and successful leadership experience spanning Research & Development, Operations, Supply Chain and Human Resources spread over different industry verticles – Railways, Automobiles, Food & Beverages and Media. He has held key leadership roles in Escorts, Eicher, Pepsico and Perfetti prior to joining HTML. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra.
Chief Financial Officer
Piyush joined HT Media in September 2008. He has vast experience in the domain of Business Planning, Corporate Treasury and Corporate Tax. His experience spans companies like Gillette, Pepsico, Whirlpool and Wrigley in various leadership roles and domains. In his last role, before joining HT Media, Piyush was the Chief Finance Officer with Wrigley, India. Piyush is a Chartered Accountant as well as a Cost Accountant.
CEO of HT Learning Centers (Studymate & Englishmate)
Ajit is the CEO for HT Learning Centers. He has a rich experience of around 27 years across FMCG, consumer durables and telecom; in sales, marketing and P & L management roles. Throughout his career, Ajit has been in entrepreneurial and growth management roles where he has built the business ground up and taken it to the next level while driving overall business leadership.
Prior to joining HT, he was Executive Vice President – Operations at Vodafone. Before that, Ajit had a long innings at Tata Teleservices where he held several leadership roles. He has been an integral part of the growth story at Tata Teleservices and led the business right from its startup phase. He has also held senior roles at Airtel, Reliance Infocom, Accenture, Pepsico & Godrej GE.
Ajit is a B. Tech from IIT – BHU and an MBA from IIM Lucknow.
National Circulation Sales Head
Ashu Phakey has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing across FMCG, Retail and Media. He started his career with WIMCO and then went on to work with Frito Lay , Nestle JV, Conagra Foods and Subhiksha Trading Services, where he was President Operations.
Before joining HT, Ashu Phakey was associated with the Dainik Bhaskar group as COO North - where he was responsible for P&L management of Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana operations. He was responsible for establishing and extending the Dainik Bhaskar brand across the region.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce honours and a Masters degree in business administration from Punjab University.
CEO - Fever
Harshad Jain joined HT Media Limited as the Business Head of Fever in September 2011 and handles the radio and entertainment business – Fever 104 FM & Fever Entertainment.
He has played a critical role in transforming Fever into a profitable and formidable business, with leadership in key markets and segments.
Harshad brings with him over 20 years of cross-sectoral experience in the FMCG and media & entertainment spaces. On completion of his business studies in Sales and Marketing he joined PepsiCo and was with them for 14 years in roles across sales, marketing and business at regional and corporate level.
Immediately prior to joining Fever, Harshad was with Bharti Airtel Ltd as Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing handling the DTH Business.
Debabrata (Debu) Mukherjee
Executive Director, Revenue
Debabrata (Debu) Mukherjee is Executive Director – Revenue with over 23 years of experience in Organisational Strategy Development and Sales and Marketing.
Prior to this, Debu was Vice President – South West Asia Region, for Coca-Cola India and South West Asia. His previous assignments include Area Manager with Unilever, India and several positions in Coca-Cola–Franchise Manager, Sales Manager, Mumbai and General Manager, Delhi. In ’2004, Debu moved to Marketing, and oversaw Integrated Marketing and Communications before relocating to Seoul to head Marketing for the Coca-Cola Korea business.
In Jan 2011, Debu returned to India to lead Strategy, Still Beverages and Innovation. Two years later, he headed Marketing and Commercial for Coca-Cola. In July 2017, he was elevated to his most recent role where he drove sustainable accelerated growth in South West Asia markets of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives.
Debu has a Bachelor’s of Science (Hons.) degree in Economics from Presidency College, Kolkata and is an MBA from the University of Kolkata. In 2014, Debu was awarded the “Marketer of the Year” award in the FMCG Beverages category by the International Advertising Association.
Vinay Kamat is Editor, Mint. He brings 30 years of editorial experience across print, magazines, digital and mobile platforms.
Prior to this, Vinay was Editor, Khaleej Times, Dubai, where he focussed on creating a news product for the growing population of mobile content consumers. Before joining Khaleej Times, Vinay was Resident Editor, The Times of India, Bangalore. He has also worked with DNA, where he launched the broadsheet product in Mumbai and Bangalore. During the early days of digital content, Vinay had significant stints as Editor of indiatimes.com and economictimes.com. Formative years of his journalism career were shaped at Business Today and The Times of India as Business Editor.
Vinay holds a postgraduate degree from the University of Bangalore.
Group General Counsel & Company Secretary
Mr. Dinesh Mittal joined HT Media in November 2006. He has previously worked with Whirlpool of India Ltd., DCM Shriram Group and JK Synthetics in his professional career spanning over 32 years. Immediately prior to joining HT, he was the Executive Director at Whirlpool India handling Legal, Tax and Secretarial matters for India and parts of Asia. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Law from Delhi University and a Masters Degree in Law (IPR) from Queensland University, Australia. He is a qualified Company Secretary and also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from IPM, Ghaziabad.
Neel Kant Saxena
Supply Chain -Director
Neel has 30 years experience in engineering, manufacturing and end-to-end Supply Chains in various FMCG andProcess Industries across geographies in the Asia Pacific region â€“ besides operations, developing & implementing strategies around regional manufacturing and facility management outsourcing. His last role was Director â€“ Integrated Supply Chain at Cadbury (Mondelez – erstwhile Kraft Food). Neel spent over 15 years with Cadbury in multiple roles in Asia and was based in Bangkok, Thailand before relocating to India in 2011. He has worked earlier with Britannia and ICI and is a qualified Electrical Engineer with Executive MBA (Kelloggs).
Vice President – Consumer Insights
Pankaj joined the company in Dec 2007 after over 15 years of experience in Marketing, Sales and Research with two of India’s leading companies – Hindustan Unilever Ltd and HDFC Life insurance. He joined HT Media’s Mumbai operations as Business Head and after a successful stint there, moved to his current role as Vice President – Consumer Insights in 2009. He manages research activities across all businesses and brands of the HT Media Group. He is an Electrical Engineer from IIT Delhi and a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad.
Chief Business Officer & Group CMO
Rajan joined us in 2006 to launch and head the Mint Business. Since then, he has played a steering role in building and strengthening all our businesses – Print and new brands like Fever, Nasha, Shine and Studymate. He has also been instrumental in developing various intellectual properties across our businesses. Rajan now heads the Revenue Enablement Organization and marketing for the group. In his over 25 years of experience, he has worked with several blue chip companies across diverse categories in senior leadership roles. These include Contract Advertising, Whirlpool and Pepsico Beverages India, where he served as Executive Vice President – Marketing. While the bulk of his experience has been in the Indian market, he has worked on an International assignment in Brazil as well.
CEO, Print Business
Rajeev has over 24 years of rich working experience, across various industries and geographies. Rajeev has returned to HT Media after spending a little over three years with Star India Pvt. Ltd where he was President, Ad Sales across the Sports and Entertainment businesses. He also managed the Digital Revenues for Hotstar for Sports properties. Additionally, Rajeev spearheaded the creation of the revenue model for new domestic leagues such as Indian Super League and Pro Kabaddi League, and the IPL Digital revenue model, and led the Sales Organisation restructuring across the sports and entertainment organisations, as well as the sales automation initiative. Before joining Star, Rajeev was National Head of Revenue and Circulation at HT Media. He has also worked in FMCG companies, including AVON, Whirlpool, Coca Cola and Asian paints where he led diverse portfolios in Sales, Operations, Strategy, Commercial and Trade Marketing. Rajeev holds a MBA in Marketing from Punjab University.
Chief Digital Officer and CEO – HT Digital Streams Ltd
Rajiv is a young, digital-age, leader who has built his entire career in the digital space in the US, both in B2B and B2C businesses. He brings 17 years of rich experience in general management, product development, product management, business strategy and start-ups. Rajiv has previously worked for Microsoft, BCG, Logitech, and Samsung and also played a leadership role in successful start-ups like Coosty and Bidgely. Prior to joining HT, Rajiv was the VP Product and GM for Peel, an international, widely-used, content consumption and control application.
An engineer in Computer Sciences, Rajiv has done his MS from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.
Editor-in-Chief , Hindustan
Shashi Shekhar joined HT Media in September 2009. He began his career in journalism with Hindi daily Aaj and was instrumental in its expansion across UP, Bihar and MP. After Aaj, he worked as an Executive Producer with the leading news channel Aaj Tak and played a key role in shaping its news content and weekend programs. He is a prolific writer and also hosts TV programs on contemporary issues.
Shashi is a Post Graduate in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology from Banaras Hindu University and also has a post graduate Diploma in Journalism.
Editor-in-Chief, Hindustan Times
R Sukumar, part of the founding team of Mint joined HT Media in October 2006 from The India Today Group where he was then Managing Editor of Business Today. He started his career at The Hindu Business Line where he became the Marketing Editor. He then spent a little over nine years at Business Today, where he was an Associate Editor and later the Managing Editor, with both strategic and operational leadership of India’s leading business magazine. Sukumar has a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Mathematics and Business Administration.
Head of Events & Marketing Solutions
With over 3 decades of experience spanning Sales, Brand Management, Retail, Advertising and Media, Sanjay has been instrumental in engineering turn-around, managing and growing a start up and building Brands and businesses.
He started his career at Bata India limited where he managed the largest wholesale operations, managed Brands like Power and North Star and launched the “ Bata Bazaar” concept.
From there he joined Ramms India, a subsidiary of MAA Bozell, based at Bangalore, providing Retail Merchandising Solutions. A start up that grew into a National operation with offices across Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.
Sanjay then moved to main stream Advertising where he spent the next 17 most of with the WPPP Group at Ogilvy and Bates. He was instrumental in turning around the Kolkata office, taking Ogilvy to a position of Global recognition, starting the Retail communication practice and instrumental in winning many business pitches both at local and international level.
He moved to Media in 2014, when he joined the India Today group, to head the Hearst Joint Venture, for the woman’s lifestyle and luxury business and worked there for 3 years before joining HT Media, in June 2017 in his current capacity.
CEO – Shine.com
Zairus Master is the CEO of Shine.com and started his journey with the company in 2013.
In his role as the CEO of the country’s second largest job portal, he is responsible for defining and delivering the business strategy and providing overall leadership for Shine.com.
During his tenure, Shine.com launched the e-learning marketplace – Shine Learning to address the need of constant re-skilling of talent in the current economy.
He has over 20 years of rich and exhaustive experience across varied industries and has held senior management and top leadership roles in leading Indian and global companies.
Prior to joining Shine, Zairus worked as Sr. Vice President & Head – Devices with Airtel. His mandate was to develop and implement strategies in partnership with the devices ecosystem to accelerate the adoption of Mobile internet. Prior to this he has held several sales, marketing and category management roles in Nokia and Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
Zairus is an IIM alumni and holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. After graduating from IIM, he joined Unilever where he worked for 10 years in various marketing and brand management roles.
He is a technophile and likes to stay updated about the latest technologies and also an avid traveller who likes to explore new places with his wife and two children.
